Like mother, like daughter, Claire has acquired a taste for BC wine, too. (So much so, if you bring a bottle to her house, it better be from BC!) But Claire’s expertise doesn’t replace her mom’s—rather, it’s the perfect pairing. While Cheryl educates customers about tasting notes, Claire handles all of the operations and logistics—no more minivan, thank you very much. And with the new generation of ownership comes a new name: BC Fine Wines. After all, BC fine wines aren’t just what we sell—they’re what we sip with the ones we love. We’re so proud you can, too.

A new vintage

Hustling cases from her home office and basement “warehouse”, Cheryl drove Northern BC’s rugged backcountry, stopping at retail stores, restaurants, hotels and resorts to pitch her portfolio of wines and hand-deliver bottles from the back of her Chevrolet minivan. As Cheryl’s business and family grew, her daughters started to work part-time for the business. In 2014, her eldest daughter, Claire, became her right-hand woman, joining Cheryl Lawrence Liquor Agency full-time.

From humble beginnings

It all started back in 1986 when one Miss Cheryl Lawrence fell in love with wine while working for the local government liquor store. Recurring “research” trips to the Okanagan Wine Festivals not only refined her palette, they introduced her to the robust notes of our very own BC wines. She was sold. But as her career evolved from liquor store employee to manager of a cold beer and wine store, one thing didn’t: She couldn’t get her hands on the wines she and her customers wanted most: BC wines. And so, in 2003, she started Cheryl Lawrence Liquor Agency, distributor of BC wines to Northern BC.
